Baby Diaper Cakes

Baby Diaper Cakes - This blog today is to explain how to make a diaper cake that will have everyone saying WOW! These can be made very inexpensive or very expensive. Just depends on you. First off think about the new baby, what the room theme is what you would like in incorporate into the diaper cake. These are great for a baby shower as a center piece. We are going to make a 3 tier diaper cake.....Here is a list of items you will need.

main items:
diapers (I like to use either newborn or the next size up)
curling ribbon
3 receiving blankets
ribbon
items you would like to put in the diaper cake:
wash clothes
small package baby soaps etc
nail clippers
baby bottle
teething rings
brush/comb
baby booties
little sleepers
tray - to sit the cake on (optional)

you get the idea....take each diaper and roll it up then tie a piece of curling ribbon around it to hold it together. This is the hardest part. It takes awhile because you making enough for 3 tiers. Once your done take and stand enough up to make a circle design the size you would like the bottom to be. Take some ribbon and tie round it. Do the same for the middle and top piece but make the middle piece alittle smaller and the top piece smaller than the middle. Next fold the receiving blankets to fit around each tier and tie off with ribbon. I like to stick a baby bottle in the top piece with some themed wrapped baby candy. Place them on top of each other and you have a cake. Now decorating your baby diaper cake. Take the wash clothes and fold into a fan and place all over the diaper cake. Put the items between the ribbon to hold into place. Or you can stick between each layer around the edges. Start putting all the items you would like on the cake. You can add a few flowers. Some people like to put the empty cardboard paper towel in between each layer of the diaper cake, to hold it together better. If it's a centerpiece I like to put it on a tray and decorate around it with tulle. At Basket Creations By Kitty we put ours in a cellophane bag wrapped with a bow.
